If this is true, we should start cutting off young men’s testicals and surgical removal of young women’s ovaries should be standard. And if hormones are dangerous, old people (who have almost no hormones) should be safe from those nasty, dangerous hormones. Why on earth would someone want you to believe the hormones of youth are dangerous?
How about this option; big pharma can’t make much money off of healthy people. And the drug companies can’t patent natural substances, like the hormones we naturally produce. The hormones of a healthy young person give some measure of health and vitality to older people as well. This is bad for business for the drug companies.
So how does big pharma react? They hire the best researchers money can buy (just like the best lawyers and politicians money can buy) to come up with studies that “prove” health giving substances like hormones are dangerous….yea, dangerous to drug company profits.
It’s easy for big pharma to get their propaganda out in the media as they spend more money in the media than any other industry. You are going to be pretty nice to the ones paying your bills. A major example of this corrupt, incestuous relationship was the reporting of headlines all over the country pronouncing that the latest study from the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) showed that women taking “hormone replacement therapy” had an increased risk of heart disease, cancer, strokes, and dementia. At the same time, according to the press, the study showed absolutely no substantial benefit from the treatment. No benefit and significant risk. A woman would have to be a fool to keep on taking her
hormones after reading that, right?
The problem is that these terrible results from the WHI study were not about natural hormone replacement therapy at all. They were about drug replacement therapy. Drug replacement therapy is when a drug is used to replace a deficient hormone instead of using the actual natural, bio-identical hormone. Yes, drug/hormone replacement can be dangerous and the WHI showed this.
Drug replacement therapy is a two-punch combination to the body. It not only does nothing to correct the deficiency, it also introduces a new foreign substance into the body. In the case of the WHI study, the drugs they used were Premarin and Provera. Premarin is a drug that closely resembles estrogen, but is not identical to it. Doctors have used Provera for years as a substitute for the hormone progesterone.
The two drugs, as you would expect, have different effects. Premarin had enough of an estrogen effect that the women taking it were at a much lower risk of heart disease than those taking nothing. How much better would the results have been if they had taken real, bio-identical estrogen? Women taking Provera not only continue to have a progesterone deficiency, but they also get to have all the side effects that come with a drug. The moral? Don’t replace your deficient levels of hormones with drugs; replace them by taking hormones that are identical to what is already in your body.
These hormones are called bio-identical hormones, and there are many doctors that are using them. Of course this is what we use at Innovative Medicine but if you don’t live close you should be able to find help nearby. If you can’t find help you can blame those who continue to vote for big government and the ever growing police state.
When you replace deficient levels of hormones with bio-identical hormones, you will age much more slowly. You will also have a much lower chance of developing all of the diseases that come with aging, such as heart disease. This point was just recently brought home by an article in the New England Journal of Medicine entitled “Estrogen therapy and coronary-artery calcification.”
For years heart disease researchers have known of the relationship between how much calcium is present in the coronary arteries (the arteries that serve the heart itself) and heart disease. The more calcium you have in these arteries, the greater your risk for having a heart attack. In this study, 1,069 women aged 50-59 had their coronary arteries measured for calcium content. Half were taking estrogen; the other half placebo pills. On average, the ones taking estrogen had 30% less calcium in their arteries than those taking placebo. Better yet, when the researchers looked at the women who were in the highest risk category (those with calcium scores greater than 300), they found that there were almost twice as many women in the estrogen-deprived group who had the elevated levels than those who were taking estrogen. This study provides more evidence regarding the heart protective effect of taking estrogen. For women, estrogen is truly heart medicine.
Another study showed that those women who replace their estrogen are 5X less likely to become demented as they age. Several studies have showed that natural HRT decreases the risk of breast cancer compared to no HRT. A few studies have showed that natural HRT given to someone with a previous breast cancer decreased the risk of getting it again.
Hormone replacement increases lifespan and definitely increases quality of life. This includes men but especially women. Look at Suzanne Somers. She is 68 years old and has been on natural HRT since age 42.
If you don’t replace your hormones you will feel and look like a wrinkled, dried up old…….. Now that you should know better, I hope you don’t just let nature take its course.
