B12 Injections Cure Asthma
My son started intermittent asthmatic wheezing before he was two years old. His wheezing slowly got worse; by 2 years of age he was wheezing several times daily, sometimes continuously, sometimes not. As no non-patented “medicine” was suggested by pediatricians, went to the “medical library” to see if anything useful might be found in any of the hundreds of medical journals and articles from medical journals that were there.
First thing found that might possibly be useful was an article published in the Quarterly Journal of Medicine in 1931 written by Dr. George Bray who practiced at the “Hospital for Sick Children” which was said to be located on Great Ormond Street, London, England. The title of this article was “The Hypochlorhdria of Asthma in Childhood”.
In his introduction, Dr. Bray wrote: “From the earliest times digestive ‘upsets’ have been noted by all observers in association with the asthmatic habitude, and dietetics has proved to be one of the main strongholds of the therapeutist. Floyer, in his Treatise of the Asthma, published in 1698…the first book in English dealing exclusively with the subject, states: ‘Some writers…have observed the hypochondriac symptoms in the stomach, and conclude that the asthma is a ‘hypochodrical flatus (gas)’ and wants (is in need of) ‘digestives’ (things which digest)…. It is commonly observed that fullness of diet…renders the (digestive) ‘fits’ more severe, and that a ‘temperate’ diet makes the ‘fits’ more easy’….” Dr. Bray continues: “allergic children show a diminished power of digestion….” Dr. Bray pumped the acid from the stomach of 200 asthmatic children and reported “in 9% there was a complete absence of free hydrochloric acid…in 48% there was a ‘pronounced’ (severe) hypochlorhydria (low stomach acid); in 23% a mild hypochlorhydria. In 80% of asthmatic children…gastric acid was below the normal average.”
In the very few cases where supplemental hydrochloric acid was used, its use did not improve asthma. “Intrinsic Factor” is Also Made by Stomach Lining Cells Have not been able to determine why this molecule also produced by stomach lining cells was given the name noted above, “intrinsic factor”.
However, in the years following Dr. Bray’s publication which described asthma often co-existing with low stomach acid secretion, “intrinsic factor” was found to be necessary for the absorption of vitamin B12. In 1949, an article titled “Growth Failure in School Children as Associated with Vitamin B12 Deficiency” was published. This article also reported that one child with “intractable” asthma was given ten micrograms of “crystalline vitamin B12” orally every day. His asthmatic wheezing disappeared in one week.
There were many other reports of asthma treatment with vitamin B12, some of which reported improvement, others reported little or no improvement. Since non-“crystalline” vitamin B12 appears to depend on intrinsic factor for absorption, and intrinsic factor is secreted by healthy stomach cells for absorption, we gave my son vitamin B12 (not “crystalline” of course) liquid by injection, 1 cc (abbreviation for “cubic centimeter”) daily; his asthmatic wheezing “faded away” in just a few days! Whenever the asthmatic wheezing reappeared, we’d do the same administration of vitamin B12 with the same results. After a few weeks of this, his asthma was gone, and has never returned.
Over the following years, over 90 percent of both children and adults treated for asthma by Tahoma Clinic physicians have eliminated asthmatic wheezing. Many of the older adults reported other benefits to their health with these injections. There never have been any reports published describing deaths or serious adverse effects from vitamin B12 injections. If old enough to give their own B12 injections, Tahoma Clinic personnel teaches them how to do so; if smaller children with asthma, their parents learn how to give them the injections. Frequency of injections is daily until the asthma disappears, and if wheezing re-appears (in a small minority) the injections are given again. No one with asthma (or their parents) has reported that the B12 injections need to be continued indefinitely daily for months or years!
