About
A different set of questions
Innovative Medicine has practised functional and integrative medicine in Lafayette for years — treating the cause of chronic symptoms rather than managing them indefinitely.
Why patients end up here
Almost everyone who walks into this office has already been somewhere else. They have had the blood work. They have been told it was normal. They still feel the way they felt.
Sometimes that is because the right test was never run. A thyroid panel that is only TSH will miss a thyroid problem. A fatigue workup that never checks ferritin, B12, vitamin D or fasting insulin will miss the answer more often than it finds it. Sometimes it is because the result was inside the reference range but nowhere near optimal for that person, at that age, with those symptoms.
We take longer, we test wider, and we explain what we find.
How it works
How care works here
Functional medicine is not a different set of drugs. It is a different order of operations: measure first, then treat what the measurements actually show.

Step 1
1. A long first visit
We take a full history — symptoms, timeline, diet, sleep, stress, medications, family history. Most patients have never been asked these questions in one sitting. This is where the pattern usually shows up.

Step 2
2. Testing that goes past the standard panel
A normal thyroid panel is often just TSH. A normal hormone panel is often nothing at all. We test the full picture — thyroid antibodies, free hormones, nutrient status, inflammatory and metabolic markers — so the treatment plan has something real underneath it.

Step 3
3. A plan you understand
You get your results explained, not filed. What is out of range, what it means, what we are going to do about it, and what should change and by when.

Step 4
4. Re-test and adjust
We re-measure. If the numbers moved and you feel better, we hold. If they did not, we change the plan. Treating on symptoms alone is how people end up on therapy they do not need.
What we are, and what we are not
- We are a physician-led medical practice. Dr. Turner is a licensed M.D.
- We work alongside your primary care doctor and specialists, not instead of them.
- We test before we treat, and re-test after.
- We do not promise cures, and we do not sell hope.
- We will tell you when a symptom belongs to another specialty and refer you there.
If that is the kind of care you are looking for, call the office.
Come in and talk it through
A first visit is a conversation and a plan for what to measure.
