Most patients have had blood drawn many times. Very few have had the results explained. The result arrives in a portal, flagged or unflagged, and that is the end of it.

The reference range is not a target. It is the middle 95% of the people who happened to be tested at that laboratory, sick and well alike. Sitting at the very bottom of "normal" for vitamin D, ferritin, B12 or free testosterone is a common reason someone feels terrible while being told nothing is wrong.

Does insurance cover hormone testing?
The practice does not bill insurance. For bloodwork done at the office you pay a very discounted cash price, or you can choose to have the lab send a bill to your insurance company.
Can I just get the labs without becoming a patient?
Call and ask. What we will not do is hand over a panel of numbers with no interpretation, because that is the part that has value.
I already have recent labs. Should I bring them?
Yes — especially the ones you were told were normal. A great deal of the first visit is re-reading results nobody discussed with you.
